The Meredith Lab at Penn State explores the intricate architecture of bacterial cell surfaces, focusing on structures like lipoproteins, lipopolysaccharides, and lipoteichoic acids. We Investigate the mechanisms bacteria use to modify these components and their implications in host Immunity, metal resistance and antimicrobial resistance.

With an interdisciplinary approach, we investigate these dynamic systems through genetic engineering, Protein Biochemistry, microbial physiology, Metallochemistry and in vitro and in vivo infection models.
